Basim Alansar grew up in Baghdad and studied business administration at the city’s Al Munstansiriya University. In 1997 he published Man of Willow, a collection of plays. This was followed by the poetry collections The Hymns of Adam’s Son (2007) and I Have Nothing to Say (2014). In 2010, he received an award for his works at the Hay Festival in Lebanon. He has been based in Denmark since 1999.
