ARABIC MUSIC DAYS
Pierre Boulez Saal - Mozart Auditorium
The Pierre Boulez Saal’s second Arabic Music Days open with a solo exhibition by Syrian artist Nasser Hussein. His acrylic-on-canvas paintings are connected by an atmosphere of tragedy, which reflects the artist’s experience of continuous relocation and instability. The impact of the war is also mirrored, directly or indirectly, in the dread and fear of his subjects’ facial expressions, waiting for absent people with no certainty of their return. The wide space of the paintings is not a dead surface, it often reveals light and colors, showing “the chance of a possible life”, as Hussein explains of his work.
