Bach's Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin are among the most celebrated works in all of classical music. The chaconne from the D-minor Partita in particular has captured the imagination not just of audiences but also of composers through the centuries. An international ensemble of acclaimed soloists will explore different arrangements of Bach's masterwork, including adaptations by Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, and Busoni, as well as arrangements for oud, mandolin, and brass. The program also includes the world premiere of Steffen Schleiermacher's "Schattenspiel mit Bachs Chaconne" for percussion.
