Celebrated around the world for their performances of the German lied repertoire from Schubert to Mahler, Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber return to the Pierre Boulez Saal to present an entirely different side of their artistic partnership. Their recital is centered around French mélodies by Gabriel Fauré and Hector Berlioz as well as Russian romances by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, while also including four songs based on Chinese poetry by Pavel Haas—one of the last works the Czech composer was able to complete at the Terezín concentration camp in 1944 before being murdered by the Nazis.

Approximate running time: 2h with one intermission
