Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 in A major Op. 13

In a duo program spanning more than 140 years, Renaud Capuçon and Guillaume Bellom present French repertoire from the 19th to the 21st centuries, bookended by Gabriel Fauré’s bold A-major Sonata and Pascal Dusapin’s Forma fluens, which is dedicated to the two artists. A pair of true rarities rounds out the program: Thème varié, originally scored for violin and orchestra, was written in 1921 by Charlotte Sohy, a student of Vincent d’Indy and friend of Nadia Boulanger; Marguerite Canal’s late-Romantic Violin Sonata originated the following year.
