Led by the young British conductor Finnegan Downie Dear, winner of the Bamberg Symphony’s renowned Mahler Competition in 2020, the Staatskapelle Berlin brings fantastic musical worlds to life in imaginative works by Maurice Ravel, Hans Abrahamsen, and George Benjamin, with soprano Sarah Aristidou taking on the solo part in Benjamin’s setting of a poem by Wallace Stevens. These musical fairy tales are complemented by Abrahamsen’s arrangements of Schoenberg’s Op. 19 Piano Pieces and Anton Webern’s final orchestral work, written in 1940.
Presented by the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in cooperation with the Pierre Boulez Saal. Tickets are available from the Staatsoper Unter den Linden only.
