Divertimento in D major K. 334
Sumptuous sound and breathtaking virtuosity are the hallmarks of the Vienna Philharmonic chamber ensembles’ regular appearances at the Pierre Boulez Saal. In their upcoming concert, they will present a program of Austrian music that incorporates stark contrasts: with Mozart’s large-scale Divertimento in D major K. 334 and Werner Pirchner’s 1987 Emigranten-Symphonie, in which the Tyrolean jazz musician and composer, who died in 2001, reflects on the (musical) history of his homeland in his highly idiosyncratic and subtly ironic style.
Approximate running time: 1h without intermission
